POWER CORRUPTS

A poem by Thobile Maso©2006 Thobile Maso

I was blinded by love of freedom and you have abused my trust
Constantly you resorted to chess moves in dealing with my concerns
I am a revolutionary working for the masses
I refuse to be led by nose, as a pawn to be move about at will
I behaved like a slave and it is humiliating to be a slave
Only the mass line is transformative and breathes bread line

UNLESS IT LIBERATES IT IS NOT A REVOLUTION

All work done must start from the needs and wishes of masses
To perceive our human endeavour and social reality
Imposing, domesticating and manipulating dialogue is political crime
You talk about people you do not trust

HAVE YOU ABANDONED THEM

They delivered you from exile, prison, underground, they even died for you
Trust those motive forces; they are pre–condition for a revolutionary change
Revolutionary leaders cannot think without people

POWER TO THE OWNERS

Mass style for state power
Workplace for economic power
Community servicing for social power
Ideological work for working class power

TO BE OR NOT TO BE

To cover up capitalist contradictions or to disclose and unravel them
Either we pursue harmony or working class revolutionary policy line
Either we are idle dreamers or we act on concrete conditions
Either we stifled by wish thinking or droved by the material needs of our people
I’m not easily forgetting

YOU HAVE ABUSED MY TRUST
