Carbon Tax Song

A Song by John Dengate©John Dengate 2011
Tune: Dublin trad.
"Toora-loora-looraloo / They're looking for monkeys up in the zoo"

First verse and chorus:
I do not like the carbon tax,
I love the smoke from chimney stacks,
Don't bother me with boring facts,
It just makes me dyspeptic.
Shake your head and cry 'Alas'.
I may be dumb, I may be crass;
Fill the sky with greenhouse gas
For I'm a climate sceptic.

The voice of reason I refute,
I think that fossil fuels are beaut,
I don't believe that they pollute,
I favour lots of mining.
I don't like solar energy,
The sun's too far away from me;
My mates on talk-back all agree;
We never stop our whining.

Chorus

I have it on the best advice,
The melting of the polar ice
Has only happened once or twice
And not for quite a while;
The levels of the rising sea
Look perfectly all right to me -
A sceptic I will always be
And I am in denial.

Chorus
