King Street Bridge or The Bridge of Sighs

A song by Clem Parkinson©Clem Parkinson 1964

Tread lightly, tread lightly, tread lightly
When you walk across the King Street Bridge
'Cos it's faulty and Mister Bolte
Wants the findings of the board shoved in the fridge.
It's a scandal, too hot to handle
Since that truck went by and caused a nasty ridge.
No one will admit their guilt
But it's only jerry built.
So tread lightly when you walk across Kings Bridge.

Tread lightly, tread lightly, tread lightly
When you walk across the King Street Bridge
'Cos it's fragile - unless you're agile,
You may drop into the Yarra, ridgie didge.
It's a pity - it spoils our city,
They should move it to the Swan or Murrumbidge.
But we mustnIt have disruption
Or suggestions of corruption,
So tread lightly when you walk across,
Politely, don't just stalk across,
Tread lightly when you walk across Kings Bridge.
