"Axis of Evil"
A Song by Smokey Dymny©Smokey Dymny 2002
- [play]
Oh, I must be in the Axis of Evil
Cause I don't like Bush's dirty little war.
And I don't like how he runs his economy
The way he ignores all his poor.
And I don't like how he treats the environment
He won't even sign the Kyoto accord.
Oh, I must be in the Axis of Evil x3
And this is just an oil patch war.
My friends are in the Axis of Evil
They organize against his friends up here
They don't like his pro-war propaganda
And all immigrants being subject to fear
And they think the economy's for all the people
Not just folks to whom profits are so dear
Oh, my friends are in the Axis of E - vil x 3
And they think that all capitalists are weird.
So, come join us in the Axis of Evil,
We'll help you see the world as a whole.
We'll show you all your friends are his enemies,
And his enemies are not what we been told.
We'll teach you how to really be an axis:
It's a pivot that helps things start to roll.
So, I love it in the Axis of E - vil x3
And this is just an oil patch war
Oh, I must be in the Axis of Evil
Cause I don't like Bush's dirty little war.
And I don't like how he runs his economy
The way he ignores all his poor.
And I don't like how he treats the environment
He won't even sign the Kyoto accord.
Oh, I must be in the Axis of E - vil
My friends are in the Axis of E - vil
Oh, I love it in the Axis of E - vil
I'm gonna stay in the Axis of E - vil
I'm gonna run the Axis of E - vil
And this is just an oil patch war.

Smokey Dymny writes
"There was once a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reporter (Barbara Frum) who was much-loved by the liberals in Canada, She had a son, David, who turned neo-con, and went south to become a speech writer for president George W. Bush. Barbara Frum was dead of cancer by the time this happened, so she didn't have to suffer the indignity of seeing her son become a U.S. stooge.
Well now, David Frum, as Bush's speechwriter, seems to have penned a phrase similar to "axis of evil" for Bush, although not exactly that phrase, it was altered slightly by someone else. His wife bragged about this fact in emails to her friends, and David was promptly dismissed. Most of us wish he had stayed south of the border, because on returning to Canada he wrote a book, appeared on talk shows and carried on excessively as a neo-con journalist, capitalizing on having worked for the previously named 'moron' president.
As soon as I heard how the "axis of evil" phrase was being put to use, I decided that the only thing that can be done with a phrase like that is to beat it to death. So I wrote a country style song & have been singing it as much as possible ever since.
Besides the date on the song, I added the time of day that I wrote it (8am 19Feb 2002). I was so perturbed by this "axis" story that I had bad dreams about it and woke up early to finish a song by eight in the morning, a feat I am not likely to repeat soon.""Smokey's voice is a pork chop with a little bit of road dirt."- Art Farquharson
